Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 8, 2026
TheBoard.world is an independent intelligence platform. We collect a minimum of data, use no advertising, and have no user accounts. This policy explains exactly what we collect and why.
What We Collect
Analytics data (automatic)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic patterns — which pages are read, what topics interest readers, and how the site performs. GA4 collects anonymised data including page views, referral source, approximate country, device type, and session duration. Google Analytics processes IP addresses for geolocation but does not expose them to us. We do not enable advertising or remarketing features.
Newsletter email (if you subscribe)
If you submit your email via the newsletter form, we store it in our database to send you updates when the newsletter launches. We will not share your email with third parties, and every email will include an unsubscribe link. No emails are currently being sent — collection only.
Engagement analytics (custom)
If you accept analytics cookies, we also run a lightweight engagement script that helps us understand how readers interact with articles. This collects: scroll depth, time on page, which article sections are read, click patterns (including detection of repeated “rage clicks” that may indicate a broken UI element), text copied from articles (up to 200 characters, used to understand which content readers find most useful), exit links, and basic page performance metrics. This data is associated with an anonymous visitor ID (tb_vid) stored in your browser's localStorage — it is not linked to your real identity. This script only loads after you accept cookies via our consent banner.
Theme preference (local only)
Your light/dark mode preference is saved in localStorage in your browser. It never leaves your device. We also store: cookie_consent (your cookie preference), subscribe_dismissed (newsletter banner state), and — if you accept analytics — tb_vid (anonymous visitor ID),tb_visits (visit count), and tb_first (first visit date). All of these stay in your browser and can be cleared via your browser settings.
What We Do Not Collect
- No user accounts or login systems — there is nothing to log in to.
- No passwords or payment information.
- No advertising profiles or ad tracking. Ad storage is explicitly denied in our consent configuration.
- No selling or sharing of data with data brokers or advertisers.
- No form submissions other than the newsletter signup.
Cookies
We set cookies only for analytics. There are no advertising, tracking, or social-media cookies. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept our cookie consent banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are placed and GA4 operates in cookieless mode (see Google Consent Mode v2 below).
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics — distinguishes unique users via a randomly generated ID. | 2 years |
_ga_* | GA4 session state (one per measurement ID: G-6LZFHKT88E, G-MSKH1CWNPC). | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics — distinguishes users across a single day. | 24 hours |
You can block or delete these cookies at any time via your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser extension.
Google Consent Mode
We implement Google Consent Mode v2. All signals default to denied until you accept our cookie consent banner. After acceptance, analytics storage is updated to “granted” and your preference is remembered for future visits. Current defaults:
analytics_storage
Granted after you accept cookies
ad_storage
No advertising cookies set
ad_user_data
No ad audience building
ad_personalization
No personalised ads
Third-Party Services
Traffic measurement using measurement IDs G-6LZFHKT88E and G-MSKH1CWNPC. Anonymised data only. No advertising signals.
Privacy policy →All site traffic passes through Cloudflare for DDoS protection, CDN delivery, and WAF security. Cloudflare may log request metadata (IP, user-agent) for security purposes per its own policy.
Privacy policy →AI models generate article analysis and expert panel responses. These calls contain only editorial prompts — no user data or personal information is ever sent to AI providers.
Privacy policy →Our database infrastructure stores articles, newsletter signups, and site content. Hosted on servers in the US and EU. Data is not shared with third parties.
Privacy policy →Data Retention
- GA4 data: Retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, then deleted automatically.
- Newsletter emails: Retained until you unsubscribe. Email us at hello@theboard.world to request deletion at any time.
- Engagement analytics: Custom engagement data (scroll depth, section reads, clicks) is stored on our servers for 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Theme preference: Lives only in your browser's localStorage. Clear site data in your browser to remove it.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we collect very little data, most requests are straightforward to fulfill.
To exercise any right, email hello@theboard.world. We will respond within 30 days.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We will never change this policy in a way that reduces your privacy rights without prominent notice.
